Special Report No. 84-02: Information in the EPA BACT/LAER Clearinghouse of Value to the Forest Products Industry – First Update

Clearinghouse, a computerized data base with information on air quality permits issued to new and modified emission sources. The information is submitted for incorporation in the data base on a voluntary basis by EPA Regional Offices and state and local air pollution control agencies that have responsibility for issuing permits. Information includes (a) source identification, type and size, (b) emission limitations, (c) basis for emissions limitations, e.g. best available control technology (BACT) determination, (d) type of control technologies to be employed, and (e) permitting agency data, e.g. date of permit issue, agency contact, etc. Selected portions of this EPA permitting data base of interest to the forest products industry were extracted and summarized in NCASI Special Report 82-09.
