Special Report No. 82-09: Information in the EPA BACT/LAER Clearinghouse of Value to the Forest Products Industry

In 1979, EPA informally established a "new source review office" within its Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards. The main function of this "new source review office" was to coordinate Agency activities related to the review and processing of air quality permits for new and modified sources. As part of this activity, plans were made to compile, through voluntary participation, a listing of emission limitations and control technology determinations contained in PSD and other new source construction permit approvals granted by EPA Regional. Offices, and state and local air pollution control agencies. It was envisioned that the data would serve as a reference source for permit writers seeking guidance on appropriate emission limitations and control technologies for various source types.
