Special Report No. 81-03: Experience of the Forest Products Industry in Obtaining Air Quality Permits for New and Modified Sources in the 1979-1981 Timeframe

Obtaining the necessary preconstruction air quality permits for new and modified emission sources continues to be a critical step in mill expansion or modernization programs and the development of new greenfield manufacturing facilities for the forest products industry. Since the enactment of the 1977 Clean Air Act Amendments, which significantly expanded the scope of the air quality permitting process, the forest products industry has gained considerable experience in obtaining permits. NCASI Special Report 80-05, Experience with Obtaining Air Quality Discharge Permits for New Sources after the 1977 Clean Air Act Amendments, documented the industry's permitting experience in the 1977 to 1979 time frame based on a limited number of permitting case histories.
