Special Report No. 80-11: Laboratory Investigation of the Use of Selective Scrubbers for Separating Sulfur Gases Prior to Measurement in the Workplace Environment

One element of the National Council's Paper Industry Occupational Health Study Methodology Project is the examination of measurement methods for use in the workspace atmosphere. Previous experience with the use of chemical separation of several of the reduced sulfur compounds of specific interest in the workspace prior to their analysis suggested the possibility of this as a promising investigative approach. The potential utility of a satisfactory separation procedure for the sulfur compounds lies in the utility of coulometric titration instrumental analytical equipment already available in much of the kraft industry and personnel familiar with its use.
