CC-13-016: EPA Mandatory GHG Reporting Rule – Request for Data on Waste-Specific Degradable Organic Content

Subpart TT of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Mandatory Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reporting Rule (MRR) requires pulp and paper mills with landfills meeting applicability criteria to calculate and report landfill methane emissions. Methane generation is calculated for each waste stream deposited in the landfill using a first order decay model via EPA Equation TT-1. The calculations make use of the degradable organic content (DOC) of the deposited material, among other parameters. At the request of the NCASI Operating Committee, NCASI is soliciting test data from member companies that are developing waste-specific DOC values. This material will interest all companies subject to the EPA GHG reporting requirements relating to industrial landfills.
