CC-10-021: Proposed Rule – Use of Sufficiently Sensitive Test Methods for NPDES Permit Applications and Reporting
The June 23, 2010 edition of the Federal Register contained a proposed rule that would mandate the use of "sufficiently sensitive" analytical methods in NPDES permitting and compliance monitoring programs. The rule, if finalized, would obligate NPDES permitting authorities to require the use of sufficiently sensitive methods approved for Clean Water Act programs (at 40 CFR Part 136) and in cases where approved methods do not exist.
