CC-10-005: Notice of Availability – Draft Update to Aquatic Life Criteria for Ammonia

The December 30, 2009 edition of the Federal Register announced the availability of a draft update of EPA’s national recommended freshwater quality criteria for ammonia. The draft update of aquatic life criteria for ammonia, if finalized and adopted by states, would result in generally lower (more restrictive) concentrations of ammonia allowed in fresh water. The revised criteria are predicated largely on new data about the sensitivity of freshwater mussels to ammonia.
