CC-02-015: SARA Section 313 – Supplemental Information on Reporting of Lead and Lead Compounds for Various Wood Processing Operations

This material will mainly be of interest to companies with solid wood manufacturing facilities or wood processing operations such as chip mills. For the 2001 reporting year, EPA has lowered the SARA Section 313 reporting threshold for lead and lead compounds to 100 pounds and has eliminated the de minimis exemption. As a result, facilities in the forest products industry will need to carefully evaluate their reporting obligations for lead and lead compounds, since lead is naturally present in trees.
