NCASI Caribou Herd
For the past several years, NCASI and the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) have been collaborating on a caribou nutrition research program. The first phase of the study took place at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, at the Robert G. White Large Animal Research Station (LARS), where a tame herd of captive caribou was raised. In the Spring of 2013, the herd was imported to Canada to begin field work across a series of hundreds of field plots over the next five years.
