2018 FIA National User Group Meeting
The
Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) program of the U.S. Forest Service is the
most important source of data and information about forest conditions and
trends in the United States. FIA data are used for many purposes, including
wood supply analysis, conservation planning, carbon cycle modeling, and
assessment of sustainability.
Each
year, the U.S. Forest Service, the Society of American Foresters, and NCASI
collaborate to organize a National FIA User Group meeting. As announced in the February 2018 issue of the Forestry Environmental Program News, the 2018 National FIA User
Group Meeting will be held in Berkeley, California on April 24–25, and will be
followed by a Carbon Day program on April 26. The meeting also includes a field
trip to Muir Woods on the morning of Tuesday, April 24.
Participants
will learn about current issues affecting the FIA Program, status of various
FIA projects, and user applications of FIA data, and will have the opportunity
to provide input to FIA program leaders on the needs and priorities of FIA data
users.
A
more detailed agenda, information about the venue, and access to registration
are available at https://www.regonline.com/fiausergroup2018. Meeting registrations will be
accepted through April 17; however, the special room rate at the meeting hotel is
no longer available.
