Dr. Steve Prisley joins NCASI as forest biometrician and economist

NCASI is pleased to welcome Dr. Stephen P. Prisley as forest biometrician and economist. Dr. Prisley has worked in the area of natural resource inventory, monitoring, and assessment for over 30 years as a forest inventory and geospatial specialist. His background includes positions with federal government, industry, and academia. 

Prior to joining NCASI he was Professor in the Department of Forest Resources and Environmental Conservation at Virginia Tech, and Director of the Center for Natural Resources Assessment and Decision Support. He also has worked as Resource Information Manager for two forest products companies where he was responsible for managing forest inventory programs and conducting strategic resource planning. He has served on a variety of trade association and governmental panels focused on improving forest resource data for strategic planning. 

Dr. Prisley has extensive experience with wood supply modeling using Forest Inventory and Analysis data and remotely sensed information, and he has worked to improve the science of natural resource assessment and wood supply planning through enhanced data and models.
