Federal agencies define waters of the United States

On May 27, 2015, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Army Corps of Engineers issued their Clean Water Rule, defining the term “waters of the United States” (WOTUS) for purposes of Clean Water Act jurisdiction.

Federal climate change adaptation report released

Recently, federal agencies released a report, Climate Change Adaptation in United States Federal Natural Resource Science and Management Agencies: A Synthesis, that describes the status of climate change adaptation by federal agencies that study and manage land and water resources. The report notes that much of the efforts to date consist of collaboration to develop climate change vulnerability assessments and adaptation options.

U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service considering program to authorize incidental take of migratory birds

Recently, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced its intention to evaluate the potential environmental impacts of a proposal to authorize incidental take of migratory birds under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. The agency will be preparing a programmatic environmental impact statement.
