Forestry technical session planned at NCASI Northern Regional Meeting

NCASI will hold its 2015 Northern Regional Meeting on May 12-14 at the Holiday Inn By the Bay in Portland, Maine. The program will address regulatory developments, technical studies of environmental issues important to industry, and other relevant issues.

The meeting will open on Wednesday morning, May 13, with a General Session featuring brief highlights of regulatory and other developments of regional interest including a presentation on “Changing Times for Maine’s Pulp and Paper Industry.” The forestry technical session “Sustainable Management of Northern Forests: Constraints and Opportunities” will follow the General Session on May 13. The forestry session will feature eight speakers addressing topics such as outcome-based forestry in Maine, regional response to spruce budworm, the Environmental Protection Agency’s proposed rule to define “waters of the United States,” woody biomass production, tree growth modeling, regional forest inventory and analysis issues, management of eastern hardwood forests, and issues related to water quality and fish in forested watersheds. The technical session, which will adjourn at 5:00 pm, will be followed by a reception.
