Status Review for eastern diamondback rattlesnake

The US Fish and Wildlife Service has published its “90 Day Finding on a Petition to List the Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake as Threatened” (Federal Register May 10, 2012, pp. 27403-27411). The Finding was prepared in response to a listing petition submitted by the Center for Biological Diversity (CBD).

New habitat classification tool

NCASI has developed a new habitat model—the NCASI Relative Frequency Function Tool. The model is simple to use, does not require a large sample size, does not require absence data, and produces results that are easily interpretable and easily exported to other software.

Biomass technical session at NCASI Southern Regional Meeting

NCASI’s 2012 Southern Regional Meeting will be held June 11-13 in Greenville, South Carolina. The meeting will include technical sessions on Sustainable Bioenergy and Biomaterials that will run all day on June 12 and during the morning on June 13.

FIA User Group meeting

The USFS Forest Inventory and Analysis Program is the most important and comprehensive source of data on the extent and condition of forests in the United States. The Society of American Foresters convened a meeting of the National FIA User Group on March 7-8, 2012 in Baltimore. The meeting included technical presentations by FIA staff and external users of FIA data.
